The gap between Santiago and the extremes of the country — the Atacama Desert in the north and Patagonia in the south — is significant though, with remote areas having only basic health posts, so carrying a full supply of any regular medications before heading south of Puerto Montt saves you from relying on pharmacies that may not stock what you need.
